I’m Douglas. I seem to be good at all of the hardest industries in post-Capitalist America. I love writing, love photography, and am obsessed with film, specifically Horror. You try to make a living out of your talents. It’s impossible I tells ya!
I live in Colorado Springs, CO, after having moved all over the world. I lived in England for many years, Chicago, Denver, and Denmark, but never made it further west than Utah.
So I’m back home to where I grew up. And it could be worse, Colorado Springs is a beautiful city with lots of outdoor stuff to do. Too bad I’m an introvert homebody. I wish the Springs had a better food scene, but we get by.
I try to avoid Amazon as much as I can. If I have to get a book online, I go to Bookshop.org. They buy books from local, indie stores near you and share the profits.
I write about mental illnesses and health. I have a pretty serious mental illness, so it hits home for me. I want to dispel all the stigma surrounding it and give people dignity.
I’m also leftist scum. I’m not a Democrat. I'm much further left. I despise Trump and how he’s dumbed down this country so much that we’re having UFC fights on the White House front lawn. If Trump were in any way intelligent, on anything, then there’d be a saving grace. But he’s stupidity wrapped up in kacocracy. We’ll never recover from his antics. So I write about them instead.
I’m also a film critic, the stranger the better. I’m an avid David Lynch fan, but also Ari Aster, Robert Eggers, Bong Joon-ho, Terry Gilliam, and Clint Eastwood, to name a few.
I'm hoping I have enough motivation to write here regularly and not just let it waste away after a few weeks like I normally do.
